After Application, After Acceptance, Before Move-In

Your student did the hard work. They excelled in high school. They completed the lengthy college application process. And finally, they received that coveted Texas A&M acceptance letter (or AIS portal update). Now what?

You are probably familiar with the Applicant Information System (AIS) portal. Your student should be very familiar with it. They can follow along in their application and admissions review status in the portal. When they access their portal, they can see what steps they have completed and what they must accomplish to finish the admissions process to Texas A&M.

Their AIS portal conveniently links to all of the websites they'll need to complete each step. But here's a list of common next steps so you can help hold them accountable:

  • Apply for Financial Aid. Texas A&M offers many financial aid options to help you pay for college. The Aggie One Stop can assist students with learning about and applying for aid. Also, make sure your student completes their FAFSA!
  • Register for their New Student Conference (NSC). This acts as your student confirming their admission to Texas A&M. At their NSC, students register for courses as well as learn how to take advantage of all the academic programs, student services and extracurricular activities Texas A&M has to offer.
  • Access their Howdy Portal. Howdy is an all-in-one destination for your student information and university resources.
  • Activate their Texas A&M Email Account. Texas A&M will use this account for all official school correspondence. It is important that your student sets this up as soon as possible and checks it regularly.

Every Aggie has a unique journey that brings them to Aggieland. But there are some milestones they all must pass. Check out this comprehensive list of steps your student needs to take before they start their first semester at Texas A&M.

We encourage your student to contact their regional advisor when they have questions about enrolling at Texas A&M. Students can find their regional advisor's contact information here.
