Tradition & Lingo Spotlight: Whoop!

Yell Leader teaching the wildcat yell to students at midnight yell
Posted almost 3 years ago .

WHOOP! is a joyous exclamation toward anything positive or considered “Good bull.” However, only juniors, seniors, and graduates are allowed to “Whoop.”

The best example when students “whoop” is during the wildcat yell, which goes like this:

Freshmen: AAAAAAAAAA…

Sophomores: A-A-A-A-A!

Juniors: A-A-A-WHOOP!

Seniors: A-WHOOP!

There are also hand motions to accompany the wildcat yell that your students will learn as they attend Midnight Yell and Texas A&M gamedays.
