The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets is the largest, oldest, and most visible student organization and leadershipdevelopment program at Texas A&M University. The Corps develops well-educated leaders of character who embody the values of honor, courage, integrity, respect, discipline, and selfless service. As members of the Corps, cadets are given the tools they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally across all of life’s arenas.
The Corps, one of the nation's largest uniformed bodies of students, provides hands-on leadership experience, enhances a world-class education from Texas A&M, and directly involves cadets in the traditions that make Aggieland so different from all other schools. There are more than 2,000 cadets at Texas A&M, each with their own reason for joining the Corps of Cadets. Below are just a few of the reasons students have joined the Corps.
FRIENDSHIPS
The shared experience of the Corps of Cadets creates lifelong bonds among students. During your student's Corps career, they will meet a diverse section of the student body, many of whom they will remain in contact with long after their days at A&M.
LEADERSHIP
Your student will develop and excel as a leader through participation in the country's premier leadership program. Though the Corps of Cadets leverages a traditional, military-based cultural model, membership in the Corps bears no military obligation. In fact, around 60% of cadets will go on to lead in the public, private and non-profit sectors, taking what they’ve learned in the Corps to make impacts at every level.
ACADEMICS
Our commitment is, first and foremost, helping cadets succeed academically. In the Corps, your student will gain access to resources, such as Corps dedicated academic advising, tutoring, and supplemental instruction, that can help them excel academically. The Corps of Cadets continues to post a higher GPA that meets or exceeds their university counterparts. For the previous five years, over half of the Corps has posted a GPA of 3.0 or better.
VALUES
The cadet experience is deeply rooted in the six Corps values: honor, integrity, discipline, courage, respect, and selfless service. From day one of their Corps careers, students become familiar with these values and the university’s core values of respect, excellence, loyalty, leadership, integrity and selfless service, learning how to apply them in their daily lives.
CADET WELLNESS
The physical and personal wellness of each student is a major focus within the Corps of Cadets. Cadets participate in physical training several times a week with their outfits, fostering a team environment. The Corps’ Athletic Training Room further supports cadets’ physical wellness by providing instruction on how to utilize sustainable physical wellness techniques. On the personal wellness side, Corps Performance Coaches guide cadets on how to balance their academic pursuits with their Corps responsibilities and give instruction on various personal wellness and resiliency practices.
