New Personal Electric Vehicle Regulations
Posted 9 months ago in Parent & Family News .

Texas A&M University has seen an increase in the use of micromobility devices on campus, such as bicycles, scooters, skateboards, etc. While some of these devices are not electric, those that are electric are considered personal electric vehicles (PEV). PEVs do have new regulations (updated as of Summer 2023) at Texas A&M University. As you go into conversations with your student related to their use or purchase of electronic vehicles on campus, ensure you are considering the below.

  • All PEVs must be registered with Texas A&M Transportation Services and have a registration label affixed to the vehicle.
  • PEV users must obey traffic and bike rules on campus, including stopping at stop lights and stop signs.
  • PEVs must be secured to a bike rack with a lock when not in use on campus.
  • PEVs are not allowed inside any Texas A&M Building or athletic facility (including Residence Halls).
  • PEVs are only allowed in university buses if they can be stowed underneath a passenger seat.
  • PEVs with power over 750 watts (1HP) are not compliant and prohibited for use on campus.
