Your Guide to Aggieland: Supporting Your Student's Journey Starts Here!
Howdy Aggie Parents,
Here's a warm welcome to the Aggie Family! We're thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with you and your student as they prepare to join the Aggie community. We want to introduce you to a valuable resource that will play a key role in your student's transition to Aggieland - The Aggie Parent and Family Connection. This resource will be an essential hub of information as you support your student throughout their time in Aggieland.
The Countdown to Aggieland Begins with the New Student Conference (NSC)
One of the pivotal steps in your student's journey is the New Student Conference (NSC), a mandatory event for all incoming undergraduate students. Hosted by New Student and Family Programs, the NSC provides a comprehensive and immersive experience, setting the stage for a successful transition to college life.
Pre-NSC Requirements: Your Roadmap to Readiness
To ensure your student is well-prepared for the NSC, there are a few essential requirements to address beforehand. We understand that everyone's timeline is unique, and it's never too late to start planning and completing these requirements. Let's take a closer look at some of the items you can expect:
- Bacterial Meningitis: Ensure your student, under the age of 22, has provided current proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis. This requirement is critical, as failure to comply may result in a hold on class registration.
- Online Orientation: Complete the Online Orientation at least one week before the NSC. This covers crucial topics such as academics, financial matters, campus safety, and what to expect during the NSC.
- Texas Success Initiative (TSI): Familiarize yourself with the TSI requirements and ensure your student meets the criteria. This state mandate ensures college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics.
We're Here for You Every Step of the Way
As the countdown to the NSC begins, we want you to know that The Aggie Parent and Family Connection is here to assist you.
