From the Career Center: Using HireAggies

As the proud parent or family member of a Texas A&M University student, you play a crucial role in supporting your Aggie’s academic journey. One essential resource that can significantly impact their future is the Texas A&M Career Center.

Ways to Support Your Aggie:

  1. Encourage Participation: Remind your Aggie about the Career Center and that we have a ton of resources available to help them achieve their goals. Encourage them to attend events, ask questions, and take advantage of the resources available. There’s even a part of our website dedicated to First & Second Year Students!
  2. Discuss Career Goals: Engage in conversations about your student’s aspirations. Encourage them to explore different fields and consider their long-term goals. Not sure where to start? Take a look at the Career Center’s Explore Majors And Careers for step-by-step info or the Majors page where you can click on a major and see where it can take you!
  3. Stay Informed: Familiarize yourself with the Career Center’s services. Visit careercenter.tamu.edu to learn about workshops, schedule advising appointments, and learn about upcoming events.
  4. Promote getting involved: There are so many opportunities to get involved at Texas A&M. By being engaged on campus, students are able to build the soft-skills which employers seek in candidates. Student Activities is a great way for students to find their place on campus. Visit the Get Involved site with your Aggie and help them find their tribe.
  5. Talk with Employers: Even before the fall semester begins, encourage your student to log into HireAggies from the Career Center site. HireAggies has information about what employers are doing on-campus, like hosting info sessions, career fairs, networking events, and professional development workshops. Encourage your Aggie to attend events to learn more about a career path or what it's like working at that company. This is a great way for students to start building connections with recruiters.

Remember, the Texas A&M Career Center is committed to helping Aggies thrive academically and professionally. By participating in events such as career fairs, employer events, plus so much more, your student can gain valuable insights, build connections, and set themselves up for success beyond graduation.
