Ensuring Your Aggie Thrives: Campus Food Resources That Support Success

Student Life employees and H-E-B employees walk out of an H-E-B grocery store, each pushing shopping carts filled with non-perishable foods to restock Pocket Pantry locations on campus.

As an Aggie family member, you want your student to thrive both academically and personally at Texas A&M. Sometimes that means knowing about the comprehensive support network available when life gets challenging—including access to nutritious food resources that help students stay focused on their educational goals.

The Pocket Pantry Program

Student Life's Pocket Pantry program provides temporary relief to students experiencing food insecurity through immediate access to non-perishable food and toiletries. With locations across campus, these small pantries offer students convenient access when they need it most—especially when other campus resources aren't available.

What makes the Pocket Pantry particularly accessible is its design for short-term, immediate needs with no prerequisite qualifications required. Students can access these pantries during university operating hours, making it easier to fit support into their busy academic schedules. The program also helps connect students to additional campus resources, ensuring they know about the full range of support available.

Additional Campus Resources

Beyond the Pocket Pantry, students can also access The 12th Can, the university's student food pantry, which offers free groceries and household items in a welcoming environment. Students can visit during open hours, typically 3-6 days per month, or make appointments, and the pantry operates like a regular grocery store, allowing students to select items that meet their preferences and dietary needs.

Campus and Community Partnerships

Student Life’s Student Assistance Services connects students with additional resources throughout the Bryan-College Station community, including partnerships with the Brazos Valley Food Bank. These connections ensure students have access to ongoing support that extends beyond campus boundaries.

How Families Can Help

Encourage your student to explore these resources if needed and remind them that seeking support demonstrates the same leadership qualities that define Aggies everywhere.
